August 11th 2010
 Hawaiian Tuna
BBQ Grilled Tuna Steak (with Hawaiian spice rub)
Red Pepper
Sweetcorn
Grilled Courgette (Zucchini)
Shredded Carrot
Lettuce
Jalapeno-Lime-Honey Dressing

Our good friend Kim gave us a delicious Hawaiian spice mix with all sorts of goodies in it including Hawaiian sea salt, coffee and herbs. This rub went wonderfully with the grilled tuna and grilled courgette, which made this salad a tasty mix of grilled goodies!

Salade Niçoise

August 10th 2010
Salade Niçoise
BBQ Grilled Tuna Steak
Soft Boiled Eggs
Olives
French Beans
Red Potatoes
Capers
Cherry Tomatoes
Lettuce
French Vinaigrette

Juicy medium-rare grilled tuna steak and all these extra yummy ingredients make the classic Salade Niçoise impossible to resist. The dressing is a basic French vinaigrette: dijon mustard, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and a dash of salt.

Traditional Greek

August 9th 2010
Traditional Greek
Cherry Tomatoes
Cucumber
Olives
Feta
Olive Oil
Lettuce

Sometimes a simple traditional salad is all that is needed and a Greek salad satisfies that need easily. The feta cheese and olives make this enough of a treat, while the salad as a whole remains quick simple and very healthy.
Simple but delicious!

Coconut Cabbage

August 8th 2010
 Coconut Cabbage
Cabbage
Carrot
Chicken
Green Onions
Sesame Seeds
Coconut Dressing

Cabbage salads are one of our favorite ways to make a very filling salad. This salad has a nice Asian hint to it with the delicious coconut dressing. The coconut dressing recipe comes from a Lynne Rosetto Kasper recipe for a Thai Cabbage Salad. This version is a little denser and richer than a typical Thai style.

Simply Peanut

August 6th 2010
Simply Peanut
French Beans
Cucumber
Red Pepper
Cherry Tomatoes
Mushroom
Green Onions
Sesame Seeds
 Red Lettuce
Peanut Dressing

To highlight our favorite delicious peanut dressing, we served it atop a simple veggie salad, with the addition of a sprinkling of sesame seeds to spice things up. We were so excited that we started devouring the salad before taking pictures - so you get a rare view of a half-eaten salad today!

Strawberry Steak

August 5th 2010
Strawberry Steak
BBQ Grilled Filet Mignon
French Beans
Strawberries
Green Onions
Cucumber
Feta
Lettuce
Balsamic Vinaigrette

A powerful combination of luxuries! Delicious medium-rare filet mignon with sweet fresh strawberries. The french beans were again home grown and blanched, fresh and crispy. The salty feta offsets the sweetness of the strawberries. The ingredients were so rich that a simple balsamic was all that was needed to finish off this decadent treat.
Tell me you're not tempted!

Asian Bacon

August 1st 2010
Asian Bacon
Turkey Bacon
French Beans
Cucumber
Olives
Lettuce
Peanut Dressing

This simple salad was transformed by the wonderful peanut dressing, which you will no doubt see featured in many upcoming salads. The recipe comes from our favourite source of inspiration (101cookbooks). This was another of our salads we were proud to feature our home grown french beans, which are so delicious and easy to prepare, with just 3 minutes in boiling water and the same amount of time in iced water.

The peanut dressing is too powerful to resist!

Filet Mignon

July 31st 2010
 Filet Mignon
BBQ Grilled Filet Mignon
French Beans
Avocado
Olives
Lettuce
Cherry Tomatoes
Balsamic Vinaigrette

Oh the decadence!! We grilled this awesomely succulent Filet Mignon just slightly on the medium side of rare, to make what was for us at least a rare treat! (cringe). Accompanied by our home grown cherry tomatoes and blanched french green beans, this salad was dressed with a simple but snazzy balsamic vinaigrette (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard and a touch of salt and pepper).

Cobb with a twist

July 29th 2010
Cobb with a Twist
Soft-boiled Egg
Turkey Bacon
Mushroom
Olives
Tomato
Avocado
Feta Cheese
Lettuce
Balsamic Vinaigrette

Who says a salad can't be decadent? Not us, that's for sure. We decided to throw in too many goodies to name, except of course that we did just name them. There's not an ingredient in this list that wouldn't be yummy on its own, but altogether they make something truly magical! This was essentially based on Cobb framework, but with our own special twists, like Feta instead of blue cheese.

July 28th 2010
Scallop and Pepper
Sautéed Bay Scallops
Sautéed Onions
Sautéed Red Bell Peppers
Sautéed Shrimp

After a trip to the local seafood shop we decided to create a light but spicy salad featuring various sautéed delights. We topped it with some of the leftover Jalapeño-Lime-Honey dressing from two night earlier.
